This series of equipment is used to calcine to obtain calcium oxide. Calcium oxide is quicklime, also known as marble. It is usually made by calcining natural rocks whose main components are calcium carbonate at high temperatures to decompose into carbon dioxide and calcium oxide.

Raw materials for lime production: All natural rocks with calcium carbonate as the main component, such as limestone, chalk, dolomitic limestone, etc., can be used to produce lime.

In actual production, in order to speed up decomposition, the calcination temperature is often increased to 1000~1100 degrees Celsius. Due to the large size of limestone raw materials or uneven temperature distribution in the kiln during calcination, lime often contains underfired lime and overfired lime. The calcium carbonate in underfired lime is not completely decomposed and lacks cohesion when used. The structure of burnt lime is dense, and the surface is often covered with a layer of molten material, which melts very slowly. Since the production raw materials often contain magnesium carbonate, quicklime also contains a minor component, magnesium oxide (MgO). According to the magnesium oxide content, quicklime is divided into calcareous lime (MgO≤5%) and magnesia lime (MgO>5% ).

Lime process: The original lime production process is to lay limestone and fuel (wood) in layers, then ignite fire and calcine for a week. Modern production uses equipment such as mechanized and semi-mechanized shaft kilns, rotary kilns, and boiling furnaces. The calcination time is also shortened accordingly. It only takes 2 to 4 hours to produce lime with a rotary kiln, which can increase production efficiency by more than 5 times compared with vertical kiln production. In recent years, processes and equipment with significant energy-saving effects have appeared, such as cross-flow, double-slope, oil-fired annular vertical kilns and short rotary kilns with preheaters. The fuels have also been expanded to include coal, coke, heavy oil or liquefied gas.
