Ceramic ball mill model numbers such as 1T, 1.5T, and 2T directly reflect the equipment's effective volume and loading capacity. T stands for tonnage, or the maximum weight of material that can be processed in a single grinding operation. For example, a 1T model indicates the mill's drum volume is designed to process 1 ton of material, while 1.5T and 2T correspond to upper loading limits of 1.5 and 2 tons, respectively.
This capacity designation stems from the ceramic industry's need for batch processing of raw materials. Different tonnage models are suitable for various scales, from laboratory trials to industrial production. It's important to note that a 20% margin is typically required to ensure adequate movement for grinding media (such as ceramic balls). Therefore, the recommended loading capacity for a 1T model is approximately 800 kg.
Differentiating between ceramic ball mills of varying tonnage requires comprehensive consideration of three core dimensions: First, there are significant differences in barrel size. 1T models typically feature a compact design with a diameter of 900-1200mm and a length of 1200-1800mm, while 2T models are equipped with barrels with diameters exceeding 1500mm and lengths exceeding 2000mm to increase capacity. Second, motor power increases in a step-by-step manner: 1T models are equipped with 15-22kW motors, 1.5T models require 22-30kW, and 2T models require 30-45kW to drive larger loads. Finally, processing capacity is directly related to production capacity. 1T models produce approximately 0.5-1 ton per hour, while 2T models can reach 1.5-2.5 tons. This difference is particularly evident in continuous grinding operations. Another consideration when selecting a ball mill is that 1T models are primarily used for fine grinding of ceramic glazes, pigments, and other materials, while 2T models are more suitable for coarse grinding of bulk materials such as feldspar and quartz.
